Does Low Hemoglobin Cause Delayed Period?

Hi. I am 46 yrs old. I have not gotten my period this month what was supposed to come in q2th of October, 2016 I did visit my gynologist for this reason, he check my ovaries and utures، they looked fine. He asked me to wait until today Wednesday, 19/october/2016. And start to take a medicine he describe if the period has not come yet. My question, could the low hemoglobin cause a delay in person since mine as oc last month was 8.8?

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Based on your description, it appears that you could be approaching towards menopause and hence your periods could have become irregular or getting delayed.
Anaemia per say does not cause delay in getting periods. However, it would be ideal for you to take iron supplements in the form of capsules and consuming iron rich foods.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
