Does Low Grade Fever In Children Need Medical Attention?

My 1 year old son is running 38.9 celsius fever since yesterday evening no other symptoms at all except farting with bad smell. Panadol is not taking the fever down except after 2 hours, I tried neurofen this morning and it helped the fever go down in half an hour.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

If your child is not lethargic, feeding or drinking well, having normal urine output then you may give Paracetamol or Ibuprofen for fever.

However, if child is lethargic, drowsy, not feeding, decreased urine output you may need to consult a doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Khan Shoeb Mohammad Sher Mohammad
