Does History Of Heart Attack Cause Impaired Thoughts?
My aunt (84) had a heart attack a year ago. She went to church with her daughter this morning. We were shocked when she left angry and called the pastor names because she completely misunderstood what he was saying. He had preached a sermon that was totally Biblical and understood by her daughter and I. She is a good Christian lady so this was a shock to us. We ve noticed she s not quite herself lately. Could there be some confusion from the heart attack?
Noted the history related to your Aunt who is 84 years old, suffered heart attack last year, of late is not normal, left angry from Church. If the mental condition has occurred immediately after heart attack or recovery then this behavior would have been related to heart attack. If this is a recent development then the cause can be something else. The commonest being senile psychosis. Electrolyte imbalance can also cause this. Bestis the consult a Physician for preliminary clinical evaluation, investigations and have referral to a Specialist as may be required. May need MRI of brain. And surely to evaluate cardiac status as needed and to continue proper medical management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
