Does High TSh Level Affect HCG Levels?

My husband and I are trying to conceive, and have been charting ovulation. I know this past month we followed recommended activity for fertilization and I am now 7 days late when I cycle like clockwork. I have taken 2 tests that show negative. I had a thyroidectomy in February and am wondering if my abnormal (still very high TSH) can affect my Hcg to show/not show in a pregnancy test. I know we had sex on the day of ovulation, the day before and after. Please advise? Today s pregnancy test showed negative.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Increased TSH levels does not directly affect your HCG levels. Your HCG levels starts to increase once you have conceived and gestational sac forms.
Since you have followed protocol of activity for fertilization and a week late for your periods, you need to check for pregnancy status.
As the urine pregnancy test is showing negative, you can check directly serum beta-HCG levels by giving your blood sample. The values would indicate weather you have conceived this time or not.
Hope the information provided is useful.
All the best.
