Does Flexing The Muscles Cause Nose Bleeds?

I go regularly to the gym. I was doing some bodybuilding poses (as in flexing my muscle as hard as I can) in the last week and noticed that many veins show on my face(and body) . I just had a nosebleed after that. It s the third time it happened since I started flexing. I usually don t get nosebleeds and did not get one for good months before this. I also started taking citrulline malate and l carnitine (which supposedly improves blood flow to the brain) which improve blood flow. Did I damage dome capillaries in my nose by flexing and should I stop or go easier?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Probably exercise may cause elevation of blood pressure which may cause epistaxis. Once you check you blood pressure before exercise or after exercise. Also check for platelet count, bleeding time and clotting time. Please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
