Does Delayed Periods Despite Medication Indicate PCOD?
Hi Doctor, I m 25 years old. My last period was on 12 Dec. 2017. As per the Doctors advise , I have taken Meprate 10 mg for three days, from 16 Feb. , I did not got my period. Then on 21st Doctor advised me for Deviry 10 mg. Usually my periods are 30-35 day cycle. I do not have hypo thyroid symptoms. What is the chance of PCOD ? I m worried now. Thanks in advance for your advise.
Delayed periods are not always due to an organic disease. If pregnancy is excluded, it may be a result of physical or emotional stress, hormonal imbalance, sudden weight gain, and sudden change in eating patterns. Being worried counts as emotional stress and may contribute to the delay. So it could be any of these.
PCOD is a cause of delayed periods too, but would usually also present with other symptoms such as presence of facial and chest hairs, and it occurs in women who are obese.
I would suggest you give it some time, if the delay recurs in subsequent periods, visit your gynecologist for evaluation of other organic causes.
I hope i have answered your question.
Best wishes.
