Does Dehydration Cause White Discoloration On Lips?
One of the swim team kids (teenager) had to stop practice due to not feeling well. He just said he was tired at first but the coach noticed that his lips turned white. He also complained of a head/stomach ache. Was this due to lack of oxygen? He was also dehydrated.
Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have symptoms of white discoloration on lip which is mainly due to dehydration, bacterial infection or folliculitis or allergic reaction. You need not to worry as it is not causing any pain and will most probably resolve on its own. You should avoid touching or picking over it otherwise it can get infected. Avoid excessive licking of lips. Take diet rich in multivitamins. You should apply an antibiotic ointment over it and if there are some more allergy symptoms consult a Pediatrician and get evaluated. Drink plenty of water. Apply petroleum jelly on lips.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
