Does Coughing With Phlegm And Blood In Laryngectomy Patient Require Medical Attention?

I am a laryngectomy patient already and I am coughing very badly and when I do I have pins and needles stabbing me in my chest. Also, the other night I had a coughing attack that lasted more than five minutes that I was literally coughing up phelgm and blood from my throat and the pins and needles in my chest hurt so bad and my head felt like it was going to pop off. I am already on 1500 mg of ciprofloxin for another problem so I don't think I can take 2 antiobiodics but was wondering if I need to see a doctor for a chest x-ray?

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your situation and problem.
Yes, you should definitely consult doctor and get done clinical examination of respiratory system and chest x ray.
Laryngectomy patients are at increased risk of aspiration.
And this aspiration can lead to aspiration pneumonia. You are having cough, mucus expectoration and hemoptysis (blood in sputum) with pain in chest.
All are suggestive aspiration pneumonia.
So to rule out this chest x ray is must.
So consult doctor and get done chest x ray.
You may require additional antibiotic.
Hope I have solved your query.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.
