Does Chronic Fatigue, Pale Finger Nails And Eyelids Need Immediate Medical Attention?

Early Tuesday morning I woke with the flu , so Tuesday and Wednesday I didn t eat as much as I normal would , but I also started my period on Tuesday and found this article on iron deficiency anemia and I have a lot of the symptoms that list like fatigue and weakness, pale fingernails and eyelids . The article also said to contact my doctor and I just wanted to know if it s okay to wait till morning to make app. (It s 11:00pm) or should I go to the outpatients ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response

Hi!
Thanks for your concerns about your health.
I am Dr. Neel Kudchadkar and I will directly answer your question by saying that Influenza viral infections invariably cause fatigue, loss of appetite and malaise (a feeling of being sick). The facts are that you did not eat as much as you would have for two whole days. This has further contributed to your condition. You are absolutely right in stating that iron deficiency anaemia also has very similar symptoms. When you visit the Outpatients this time, request them to check your haemoglobin, that's your blood levels of iron. This will immediately make things clear and you can take an iron supplement if neccessary. I would advise you to take Paracetamol and levocetrizine for your flu, under the supervision of a local doctor.
Please feel free to post any other queries to me, directly at this link:
