Does An Expired Implanon Implant Lead To Pregnancy?

I had implanon inserted in December of 2010 after I had my son. It expired in 2013. I don t have the money to get it out. I ve heard that it s OK to leave it in your arm. I ve had my regular period since about a year after it expired. My husband and I are wanting to have another baby. Is it possible for me to be able to get pregnant with expired implanon since its been expired for so long and I have a regular period?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As the Implanon is expired, now there is no hormonal coverage of the same for contraception purpose.

So you can have baby for sure with regular periods and expired Implanon implant on your body.

Not asked here, but I would like to emphasize that any foreign material on the body should not be kept without reasons, so it should be get removed ideally to prevent future issues from it.

Take care.

Have a nice pregnancy ahead.
