Does Allergic Reaction To Shellfish Cause Itchy Red Bumps On The Face?

Wondering if I now have an allergy to shellfish. Last night I ate about 2 1/2 dozen shrimp (I know, a lot..) anyway, was find last night. When I woke up this morning, my face was very itchy, I have some red bumps (not all over) and it looked like somebody punched my the eyes. Bottom of eyes looked read and swollen. No life threatening reactions. Put a topical cream on for itch and took benadryl a little while ago. Is it because I ate alot of shrimp or do I now have an allergy? Ate Shrimp last weekend without issue.

Hi.
Thanks for the query..

Symptoms like itching and red bumps after eating shrimp then it is probably due to allergic reaction and comes under sea food allergy..

As of now you can continue taking anti allergics like Allegra or Levocetrizine and also do cool compresses over the bumps..
Apply Calamine lotion to reduce the reaction..
Do cool compresses over the face..

You can also get an allergic reaction done to rule out the exact cause of the reaction and in case if it is allergy to shrimp and also other sea foods avoiding intake of the same can help in preventing recurring outbreaks..
You can also be instilled Immunotherapy to prevent severity of the symptoms..
