Does UTI Cause Pain In Lower, Left Abdomen?

I am a 24 year old woman and I have been having pain in my lower left abdomen for the past four days. The pain is off and on throughout the day. When I urinate or I have to pee, my lower left abdomen hurts even worse. I went to the doctor today and I took a urine test that had shown a lot of white blood cells. So my doctor prescribed me with urinary tract infection meds, but I am still not sure. I have had about 9 urinary tract infections before but none of them have felt like this. They have always felt the same in the past, my left abdomen would never hurt. Do you have any other ideas of what could be causing the pain?

Hello,

As the amount of pain is substantial with blood in urine, the possibility of underlying calculus in the ureter or bladder has to be ruled out with ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis for further management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
