Does Tetanus Shot Cause Pain In The Jaw In The Same Side As The Injection?
Hi, I am a 19 year old female and I got a Tetanus shot today. The nurse told me to expect slight pain in the injection sight and maybe a low grade fever. It has been 6 hours since the injection and I am noticing a pain in my jaw on the left side (same side as the injection). Is this a side effect of a Tetanus shot?
I can understand your concern. Tetanusvaccination usually does not cause jaw pain. However, jaw pain is the sign of tetanus, prevention of which is expected by the timely vaccination. If you have failed to take booster doses every 10 years or if you injured yourself and failed to take vaccination in time, it can cause tetanus.
I would advise you not to waste time and visit your physician or emergency room immediately and go for physical check up and further examination.
I hope this information is helpful to you. Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic. I wish you get better soon!
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
