Its a pleasure answering your query as this question is still a matter of debate and studies are going on to find any definite relationship between the two. As few cases of AF has been reported after initiating therapy with SIMVASTATIN.

An inhibitory effect of myocardial energy metabolism through ubiquinone synthesis may play a role in the development of atrial fibrillation. But this has not been proved yet.

Although there are studies which have proved the benefit in preventing the incidence of AF with the the help of statin therapy.

And if this has happened in your surrounding i would suggest you to report this to a cardiologist and switch to some other STATIN.
