Does Seroquel Cause Oily Skin And Dry Mouth?

I was recently prescribed seroquel to help with anxiety and depression. I do not suffer from mania. Question: Can I expect a decrease in somnolence/fatigue? Also, oily skin, dry mouth and eyes? I do not notice any benefit to taking this medicine. What is the usual soak time? -Peter

Hello thanks for asking from Health Care Magic

Seroquel is Qutiapine and this is an antipsychotic drug. You have been given the medicine for anxiety and depression. Now coming to your question-

- Qutiapine is known to cause sedation and increased sleepiness. So it is usually given in night time. But by improvement of symptoms it will cause decrease in fatigue.

- The drug can cause sedation, dry mouth, blurring of vision, constipation as side effects because of its anti-cholinergic side effects.

- The drug usually start showing its effects in about 4-6 weeks. Improvement in sleep and mild decrease in symptoms can be observed during first week of therapy but full improvement occurs in about 4-6 weeks.

Thanks, hope this solves your question.
