Does Norethisterone Overdose Effect Fertility?

Hi. I suffered a mc on january 16. Had regular bleeding ( much like a normal light period) for 6 days. No bleeding after that for about a week. Then the bleeding/spotting returned and continued to march 28th. My doc prescribed norethisterone 5mg tablets ( 2 tabs 3 times daily). I have stopped bleeding . however, after researching the drug, I think the prescription may be an overdose . my fear is any possible problems which may arise in future in terms of fertility or any otherwise med issue. Please advise. Thanks in advance

Hi, I think norethisterone is given in 30 mg per day as a therapeutic dose to stop the bleeding. It is not harmful for any future fertility. So, don't worry about it. It is the right doae. Also you should continue taking it in lower dose to prevent the bleeding again. Also get a thyroid profile and prolactin level and a ultrasound to see the uterus and ovaries to find out the cause of irregular periods. Also get a pelvic examination done by a gynecologist to rule out any cervical pathology or infections. If any abnormality is there, it can be treated. Discuss with your doctor regarding this. Hope it helps.
