Does Metformin 500ER Help Reduce Weight?
I am 43 years ols with Hypothyroid and PCOS. weight on the higher side. My doctor recommended me Metformin 500ER twice daily.My query is will it help me to loose weight. Is the dosage recommended ok for me.I am also taking Thronorm 25 mcg every morning.Please advice

Metformin has been reported to be helpful by various organizations in both the conditions ie PCOS and Hypothyroid. It might have been prescribed to you for those conditions as an add on therapy.Please remember Metformin is only known to support the main therapeutic drugs.
Dose depends on your various investigations which your doctor is in better position to tell about.
To loose weight you have to put in effort, there is no concrete and safe medications for the same.
Do ask your doctor in your next visit.
