General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

Gabapentin is an FDA approved medication. Gabapentin is used in the treatment of neuropathic pain and it does not usually cause the symptoms your son is experiencing. His symptoms are more suggestive of mood disorder like mania. Please be advised to follow up with a psychiatrist for detailed evaluation.

Hope this answers your question
