Hi,

Cipcal contains calcium carbonate and vitamin D3 that is used in the treatment and prevention of calcium and vitamin D deficiency, bone loss or osteoporosis, parathyroid gland dysfunction or hypoparathyroidism, weak bones or osteomalacia, certain muscle disease or latent tetany, joint pain etc. Like other medications, this medication has side effects too. Side effects of this medication are loss of appetite, constipation, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, flatulence, GIT upset, increased urination, excessive thirst, painful urination, hypercalciuria, bloody or black stool, kidney stones, irregular heartbeat, fatigue, dryness of mouth, allergic reactions etc.

Usually most of these side effects are mild as well as self limiting and go away over time on their own. But, if these side effects persist for long or bother you then you should consult your doctor first for medical help. Before start taking any medication, someone should consult his or her doctor first.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
