Does Cerazette Have An Effect On Insulin Or Body S Sensitivity To Insulin?

Hello, My doctor prescribed me Cerazette. I have Type 1 diabetes. I have been taking Cerazette for roughly 6 weeks. I got my period after perhaps 26 days on it and the blood has not stopped for about 21 days now. Is this normal.? Also, I noticed that I seem to need more insulin, is there a known impact of Cerazette on either insulin needs or the body s sensitivity to the insulin?

Hi,

Cerazette (desogestrel) causes mild deterioration of blood sugar control, but not much change in insulin levels in blood.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Suneel, Internal Medicine Specialist
