Doctor Prescribed Oxycodone 10-325 When I Had Kidney Stone And Stitches In Knee. What Does 10-325 Stands For?
About a year ago I had a kidney stone & they gave me some Oxycodone, 10- 325. About 3 years ago I crashed my hang glider & needed 7 stitches in my knee & they gave me some hydrocodone 10-325 I was wondering which is a stronger pain killer & what the 10 & 325 stand for? The oxycodone seemed a little stronger but they were different problems. Could you please explain?
Oxycodone is an opioid medication. Generally used to treat moderate to severe pain. You should not use Oxycodone if you have severe asthma or an intestinal obstruction. Oxycodone may be habit-forming drug. Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Usual adult dose for pain relief is 5mg to 15mg orally every 4 to 6 hours or can be taken in a controlled release form 10 mg orally every 12 hours. Doses greater than 30 mg are rarely needed and should be used with great caution. Oxycodone is about twice as strong as hydro codon so 5mg oxycodone would equal to 10mg hydrocodon. 325 indicates dose of acetaminophen (325mg) present in the tablet. So oxycodone 10-325 means 10mg of oxycodone plus 325 mg of acetaminophen.
