Do you think everyone gets BP at some extent at a certain age ?

Do you think everyone gets blood pressure (high or low) at some extent at a certain age? Blood pressure depends on lot of factors like heredity, diet , lifestyle, stress, etc... If someone is not affected by any of these still possibly develops high b.p., so do you think age plays a role in that? To Yash.., I am perfectly alright with no risk factors. I think you did not get my question.

definitely, apart from the reasons given by u fr increase in blood pressure... age is a definite factor.. bcoz when a person gets older and older the rigidity of the blood vessels in the body increases due to varius components of day to day life...so due to increase in rigidity in vessels the smooth frictionless flow of blood slowers as the rbs & wbc cells creates friction with the walls of vessels..so pressure of blood increases due to sluggish flow of blood... one more factor is that the valves of our heart & veins doesn't work properly at old age and tend to get fatigue..so it blocks the free flow of blood & makes the blood pressure rise.. i hop u got ur answer..

Sir,My age is 34 i am an engineer by profession.my problem is that i usually have high BP. I have done certain tests for TSH, Cholesterol,Triglicirides . the results are usually on higher side that means Cholesterol /Trigilcrides above normal.and TSH 10.44. from last two one year i am on low salt diet and low fat diet and i am taking medecine for TSH as well. Now the results which came few weeks before are very good.everything seems to be within limits.but my Blood pressure is still not coming down. Right now it used to be 140/100 which is making me very uncomfortable.like i usually have headache and my eyes are also blurring .I haven t taken any hypertensive drug as yet.I am not able to understand what is the real cause of my raised Blood Pressure and how to cure it.is it safe to start taking hypertensive drugs at this age .do i have to continue taking them even if my B.P gets stable say after one week or so.Do i need to do more investigation to know the real cause and cure it accordingly ? Hi, I am 23 years of age and was told 6 years ago after a routine appointment at the GP s that i had a raised systolic blood pressure. I had nothing done about it at that point. 2 years ago i went back to the GP again for an appointment regarding something else and they found my blood pressure had raised a lot to around 140-160/85-105. I had tests and scans to check my kidneys and heart as well as seeing a cardiologist and these all came back as borderline for treatment and she would see me again within a year. This was 2 years ago and i hadn t been to see the cardiologist as they haven t sent for me! So a few weeks ago i went back to the GP to see if they could chase it up - which they have and i have an appointment for the end of this month - however my GP has given me some medication called Almodipine and told me to start that at 2.5 mg for a few days then up it to 5 mg. I however think my high readings are just because i am having my blood pressure taken, even at home it is elevated but not as much as at the surgery. My issue is that 1) I am only 23 and do i want to be taking medication for life that i actually may not need because it is just high when taken? 2) What if i do take it and i don t need it because it isn t actually high? 3) Why give me it now when i am seeing a cardiologist in 3 weeks? Also i wanted to know how long it takes the medication to cause an effect? Is it the build up or on that day of taking the tablet it will work? Here are some of the home readings i have been getting iver the past few days - Also there is such a variation in readingS, why could this be? Day 1 - 7.30 p.m - 136/103 8 p.m - 139/92 Day 2 - 7.30 a.m - 139/93 12.15 p.m - 148/100 1 p.m - 152/82 8.55 p.m - 139/97 9.35 p.m - 132/85 Day 3 - 8 a.m - 136/88 8.20 a.m - 122/89 2 p.m - 134/77 3.30 p.m - 142/78 4.30 p.m - 139/85 As you can see it seems to have lowered towards day 3 but it ranges so much! The diastolic pressure seems to be more or less always elevated - Does the almodipine medication i have effect both numbers? I do understand that it is a calcium channel blocker which works by relaxing the arteries so lowering BP. I hope you can help ease my mind slightly! Thankyou!

I was hospitalized yesterday for very high bp (avg 190/115), did an ecg and had abnormal t-wave (inverted). They gave me a shot of nitro and iv injected beta blocker...a few hours later, bp returned to normal (128/82 avg). They released me, but I m going for a stress test in the next couple of days. Today my bp was high again this a.m., but is now averaging 90/60 or less, is this a sign of something serious going on, and should I get back to the hospital? I am a calm person, I d just rather be safe than sorry.

In the last few weeks, I have started having like a hot flash in my neck and checks; almost like I m blushing. I suffer with lack of energy, depression and anxiety (grieving loss of spouse of 30 years and mother) but this is a new situation. Currently being treated for high blood pressure with HCTZ in the morning and Norvasc at night. I take vitamin D (5,000 IU) daily along with CoQ10 and Xanax PRN. I m 64 and thought I had gone through menopause already. Could this be the anxiety/depression and if so, what supplement could I take to help. I have no insurance so medical testing is not an option at this time.
