Do The Bruising Knots Need Medical Attention?

My son plays football as a left tackle and noseguard. On the lower inside of his left arm, he has a small marble size knot and a knot on his left hand between his thumb and pointer finger. He gets bruises about every week on the outside of his lower arms. Is this something that is normal or needs to have checked?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is likely that he is receiving these injuries during practice or while playing. It is not something I am too concerned about. However, I would suggest he get a complete blood count and a clotting panel done to ensure there is nothing else that can explain this.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
