Does Foot Bruising Need Medical Attention?

My son fell a few months ago and really bruised his leg above the bend of his left foot it hurt for a week or so but the bruise is still very visable and no longer hurts-should I take him to see his peditrition or just wait a bit longer? Also what could this mean if I need to take him to doctor?

Hi,

Children tend to get bruises all the time. Sometimes the collection of blood because of injury is a little more than the other times. Because of this the time taken for resorption of the blood (which you see as bruise) is longer. There is nothing to worry as such if this is just one episode and there has been nothing like this in the past. Just give it sometime and it should completely get resolved on its own.
