my husband woke up with a pain in his lower mid stomach. he is warm to the touch but feels like he is freezing. He feels bloated and like he is full of gas. also feels alot of pressure in the area. Has had moments of nausia... My husband has dipherticulitis and Hep C already. What could this be? Should I seek him medical attention right away?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I have read your question. In my opinion, all the above symptoms are due to diverticulitis. Please continue the treatment of Hepatitis C as you have.

So, I would like to give some tests and some treatments. Please do these tests:

1. Barium Swallow X-Ray Abdomen
2. Whole Abdomen USG
3. Complete Blood Test
4. Liver Function Tests

Please do these treatments:

1. BETHANECHOL CHLORIDE 10 mg: 3 times a day until bloating and abdominal pain subsides.
2. Dimenhydrinate: Immediate Release 50 mg every 4 to 6 hours as needed (for nausea).
3. Ciprofloxacin: 500 mg orally twice a day for 7 days

Please post the results of the test so that a doctor can follow you up. Do not worry. You are under treatment so you should feel relief after a few two weeks of treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dipan Samanta, General & Family Physician
