Distortion In Ears When Hearing Loud Sound. History Of Operation For Grommet Removal In Eardrum, Infections. Serious?

hey, my hearing distorts like a broken speaker when a sound source gets to loud, however this can be my own voice at a medium level, or the television. Had lots of trouble with my ears including a recent operation to remove a grommet that had been lodged in the back of my ear drum since i was very young (i'm now 21) and was causing very regular infections and 'perforations' leaving my ear drum scarred up. I'm worried that the number of infections and problems i've had with my ears over the years has damaged them to the point of no return. Is there a diagnosis for this heavy distortion, and can i stop it?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi and thanks for the query.
The kind of distortion of sound that you have just described can happen because of fluid build up behind the ear drum due to a faulty eustachian tube.
You will have to see an ENT to determine the exact cause.
Longstanding infections of the ear can lead to permanent damage but dont worry let an ENT take a look.
Till then do not let water to get into your ears and do steam inhalation 5 times a day.
