Diagnosed With COPD And Peritonitis. On Hemodialysis. Have Shortness Of Breath And Sleeplessness. Suggestions?

Dear Sir,
My mother is a COPD patient who recently had peritonitis and the doctors decided to move her to Hemo dialysis till such time as the infection gets cured. Right now she is on medication for the peritonitis and is undergoing hemo dialysis. She complains of shortness of breath in the nights and is not able to sleep . Can you please suggest the possible causes for this. The heart is ok as per the doctors .

Regards
Udai

Shortness of breath could be because of zcopd that she is suffering from. She should continue with her inhalers and other medicines and take nebulization as and when required. Since she is on hemodialysis, fluid overload in her lungs also needs to be ruled out. Pl consult her treating physician for that.
