Daughter Have Allergy Symptoms. Gave Aerius Two Doses. Concerns Of Overdosing?
Hi. My 8-year-old daughter has had allergy symptoms the past few days/nights. I gave her Aerius for Children (Desloratadine) 5 ml, this morning and then I gave her 4 ml again this evening, not realizing that it was intended for once-a-day dosing. Are there any concerns with overdosing with this type of medication? I have not been able to find any online. Thank you.
Hi, Welcome to HCM, After going through your history, your daughter is having allergy problem, and the drug in question Desloratadine should be given once day. This is by mistake you have given repeat dose one should be careful in case of children. This drug is other wise is very safe, I hope nothing serious is there. This drug can cause sleepiness, fast heart rate and dry mouth, just to be on safer side please visit your physician(Pediatrician) and there is nothing serious. In few country if you have helpline number please call and share your concern they will help. Please take care in future and keep medicine out of reach of children, Good Luck Dr.Akhilesh Dubey M.D.
