Could Sore Throat And Aching Teeth And Gums Be Symptoms Of Cancer?

Hi, I had an ear infection few weeks ago. Had antibiotics but after couple weeks it returned. Initially my teeth or gums (not sure which) were aching too but now it s reverse the teeth/gums hurt more with just odd occasional ear pain. This is both sides by the way. I m worried now as my tongue feels but sore and have that yellowish colour at roof of mouth. Have slightly sore throat too. My dentist checked teeth and said all was ok. I m so worried as I ve read so much about throat/mouth cancer :( I ve also had discoloured tongue. Can u possibly give me any reassurance or do I need to see GP again? Thank you

Hi,

As per your complain the symptoms of aching teeth/gums along with yellowish roof of mouth and sore throat and occasional ear ache are pointing towards sinus infection or sinusitis. As the sinuses lies in close association with upper jaw teeth therefore sinus infection causes pain in teeth and gums. Occasional ear ache is indicative of lingering ear infection while can be radiating pain from sinuses.

I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get examined. He can advise you PNS VIEW x ray of sinuses or MRI scan to confirm the cause and treatment can be done accordingly. You can be advised to take a course of antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, doing warm saline gargles, steam inhalation and do saline nasal irrigation. Avoid air conditioned atmosphere. Do warm compresses over the area surrounding nose.

Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks and regards,
