Hello Patricia!

My name is Dr. Aida and I am glad to attend you on Healthcaremagic!

In my opinion the shooting sharp pain in the head could be ice peak headache, which is a benign type of headache, not related to your sinuses.
Regarding your sinuses, I would recommend consulting with your doctor, performing a sinus X ray study and a sinus discharge bacterial culture.
Anyway, your symptoms are not indicative of any serious medical disorder.
So, there is nothing to worry about!
Hope to have been helpful!
Best wishes!
