Could Palpitation Be The Withdrawal Symptom Of Metroprolol?

Hello, I ve been experiencing Palpitations since being put on and taken off of Metropolol for hypertension. I was put on Losartan 25-50 mg/day and the same palpitations occur on a daily basis. I m 200lbs 54 yrs of age my calcium score is 44 my echocardiogram is normal, and I ride a bike 8-12 miles a day. I ve dramatically have changed my diet from sugar and fat to fruits vegetables chicken only. I ve never smoked, and don t do caffine. I noticed that my palpitations started once I was put on these meds. I m trying to manage them by avoidinig sugar and stress. And I upped my dosage of losartan to 50 mg/day from 25mg/day to reduce my bp to relax me more. Yet, I m still getting them. Should I stop taking Losartan for a short period to see if the palpitations go away and if so how long does it take for the medicine to be completely elimintated from my body. I would consult with my cardiologist before doing this, but need to know the source of the problem. I know I m not the only one with this problem. If s very evident that many people are experiencing the same problems as I after starting on BP meds. Is getting off Losartan as difficult as getting of Metropolol? Not looking to quit them, just looking to see if they re the cause of my palps...

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic,

Beta blockers has to be discontinued slowly..If they are discontinued rapidly withdrawl tachycardia with palpitations can occur. So its better to re-start the Metoprolol under advise of a cardiologist.
