Could Pain Radiating From Lower Back To Hip, Groin And Leg Be Sciatica?

I have pain radiating from very low back around left hip to groin and down leg that sometimes makes left leg lifting motion difficult, sharp pain in is inner thigh and groin and interferes with walking, sometimes making lower slightly numb. Is this sciatica? If not, what is this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello!
Thank you for asking Healthcaremagic!
I understand your concern!
Answer: From your description it looks that you might have sciatica, it refers to the pain that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve from your lower back through your hips and buttocks and down the leg. Typically, sciatica affects only one side of the body.
I would suggest you to consult an orthopediac surgeon who may order MRI to determine cause of sciatica (level and degree in case of disc herniation) and may suggest the right mode of treatment. Sciatica responds well to bed rest and analgesics (pain killer) .
The definitive treatment depends upon the cause.

Hope my answer was helpful! If you have additional questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us.
Wishing you good health!
