Could Low Energy, Mood Swings And Depression Be Due To Changing From Trileptal To Generic Brand?
My son has been on Trileptal since age four and now age 10 and switched to the Generic brand. I'm finding he has less energy, mood changed to more of a downward spiral. Could it be the effects of the generic to what he was use to? And if so, should I switch him back to Trileptal?
Hi and welcome to HCM. Trileptal (Oxcarbazepine) is an antiepileptic drug available as 150 mg, 300 mg and 600 mg film-coated tablets for oral administration. Generic brand means absence of a brand name, but its contents remain same. I suggest you take those tablets to your doctor and get verified by him. In case if your son still have mood changes then your treating doctor is the best person to decide whether to change the dosage. All the best
