Could Hot Flushes And Mild Headaches Be Due To Prednisone?

Hello Dr. Rynne, my name is Sharon and I am a 67 year old white female who was prescribed 10 MG. of Prednisone yesterday for back pain and inflammation from Sciatica. I have taken five tablets orally and today I had a mild headache and I felt warm and very flushed. This evening my facial skin is bright red like a bad sunburn and feels hot yet my body temperature is normal. Should I refrain from continuing the medication until I can talk to my doctor tomorrow?

Hi

Steroids can rarely cause any allergic reaction. You can stop the drug until further examination by your physician.Avoid any triggers like caffeine, alcohol or smoking.Anti-histamines can be taken to reduce any itching.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards
