Could An Elevated CK Level Cause Fatigue With Excessive Sleep Patterns?

I have had an elevated CK level now for about a year. I was taken off simvastatin for 8 months and it actually went up to 400+ and stays around that level. I am suffering from fatigue. I can sleep 9 to 13 hours a night. Can an elevated CK level cause this? I am a 68 yr old white female and have been on synthroid for 20 years. I have always been an active and energetic person

Hello dear
Understand your concern
Two reason for your high CK in your case:
1. Statin side effect: statin cause myositis/muscle damage. That lead to increase in CK level.
When CK level is above 10 times higher than upper normal level (>2500 Iu/L). then it is not advisable to start statin drug. When level up to 5 time higher than normal level then it should be started.
So muscle fatigue lead to weakness and excessive sleep.
So by consulting to your doctor reduce the dose of statin, do diet management, regular exercise, leafy vegetables and high fiber diet.

2. Hypotyhroidism: In under active thyroid also there is increased CK level. It also present with muscle fatigue and weakness lead to excessive sleep.

Other causes like myopathies and motor neuron disease should be rule out by consulting the MD physician.
Drink lots of fluid, healthy diet, fresh fruits, do muscle exercise that strengthen the muscle.
Hope this may help you
Best regards
