Child Having Green Discharge Through Eyes Causing Difficulty In Opening. What Can Be Done?
it s been almost 2 days that my 5 year old daughter has been having these green goo (or is it pus?) that keeps coming out of her eyes.. her x-ray shows her left lung looks hazy and unclear, and her doctor tells us there s either phlegm or some liquid that got in her lungs. she s had a recurring cough for almost a month. she has a running nose right now, has had a fever that have run up to 102 degrees farenheit plus and diarrhea for almost 2 days straight, and puked everything she ate about 3 hours ago. but what i am concerned about right now is how to get rid of the discharge in her eyes because i think it is what is freaking her out the most. when she wakes up from taking a nap for being so sick, she panics because she can t open her eyes. please HELP?
Hi
Your child is suffering from Bacterial conjunctivitis , probably secondary to Lower respiratory tract infection . This is quite common especially in children.
So, don't worry, continue your Physician 's treatment ,clean her eye lashes with cotton balls dipped in Luke warm water. All she needs is frequent application of antibiotic eye drops and an ointment at least three times a day.
Please consult an ophthalmologist, at the earliest to assess her and start on prescribed antibiotics, to avoid any corneal involvement due to infection . You might need a conjunctival swab to find out which organism and its sensitivity for drugs.
So, clean the lids with cotton and go for an eye consultation at the earliest. Take care.
