Child Having Diarrhea With White Colored Stool And Vomits In Sleep. Should I Be Concerned?

I have a two year old, two nights in a row, she vomited in her sleep, only once. For two days now she has had very loose yellow/whitish colored stool . She wi barely drink anything, and has had few wet diapers. She isn t acting quite like herself. Should this be cause for concern? I hate to expose her to all other illnesses at her pediatrician if there is nothing that can be done.. I have tried forcing liquids but she doesn t want to drink..

Hi

Your kid is having a gut infection- which mostly might be due to a virus.

Main problem seen in these gut infections is dehydration.
You must ensure that she drinks well.
Try to give her water, ORS, vegetable soups, curd, rice based food, soya millk etc.
Give them in frequent small portions.
Avoid fruit juices/ formula milk/ cow`s milk.

For vomiting she might need medications like Domperidone or Ondensetron in right dosage according to her weight.

She must wet her diapers atleast 4 to 5 times in a day.

If there is no improvement and she continues to refuse feeds and continues to have less wet diapers, its better you see your Pediatrician at the earliest.
If dehydration is severe, then she might need to be hospitalized.

Hope I have answered your query.
Wish your daughter a speedy recovery.

Hi.
Thanks for your query,
Your child is having acute gastroenteritis which is mostly viral in nature and takes few days to settle.
Most important is to prevent dehydration.
I suggest you to.
-Give oral rehydration solution sip by sip after each loose stools.
-Give lemon water,coconut water,curd,banana,boiled potato.rice porridge.
-Give anti emetic like domperidone in prescribed dosage.
-Give lactobaccilus sachet for 2 to 3 days and zinc for 14 days.
-Observe her activity, urine output and in case she becomes lethargic.urine output decrease, does not accept orally get her examined by pediatrician for evaluation and proper management.

Wishing your child good health.
God bless.
