if my normal temperature is 97.9 would 99.4 be considered a fever I'm also feeling hot plus I've got salva gland blockage had it for yrs every so often it blocks and swells and is painful could that be whats making me feel feverish??

I have gone through your query, as you have mentioned that you have blockage of salivary gland since long time ,now you are feeling fever , yes it can be due to that or may be due to viral infection also,
Dont worry go to Dentist and get investigations , Sailography done and go for proper treatment ,
For fever you can take medications One Tablet Paracetamol three times a day for 5days ,
One Capsule vitamin B complex once daily for 5days ,
Then go to Dentist and get treatment done.
