Can Yellowish Green Discoloration Of Toe Nail Be Due To Fungal Infection?
I stubbed my toe playing basketball a few weeks ago. The toenail had a blood blister that eventually popped. However, there is a black spot near the bed of the toenail and it has turned an unpleasant yellow-green. Is this a fungus or is my toenail just gross for a few more months?
As per your query you have yellowish green toe nail after you got it injured . Well the most probable reasons for yellow green discoloration of toe nail is fungal infection ( most common ) or complications of liver and kidney disease . But in your case it seems to me that dark discoloration of toe after injury occur due to hematoma formation and get infected with fungus after popped up . I would suggest you to wash your toe with warm water and keep it dry . Apply over the counter anti fungal cream . If condition doesn't get better in 2-3 days then consult dermatologist to confirm the diagnosis and rule out diabetic condition . Doctor may prescribe anti fungal drug like fluconazole .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
