Can Wrist Swelling With Spasms And Pain Due To Arthritis Be Treated?

I ve had swelling around the left wrist with recurrent spasms of pain when I perform the simplest motions like buttoning my shirt. Pain often occurs midway up the forearm. It has been 2or 3 weeks now. I ve had x-Rays of the arm and an ultrasound Doppler performed. (MD suspected blood clot) Results show no blood clot but arthritis in hand. Similar on right side. So, thus far, no definitive answers or directions. Can you please provide any answers that will lead to the elimination of these symptoms AND the underlying cause?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello

This can be carpal tunnel syndrome. In this there is edema over tendon at wrist below flexor retinaculum.
Due to increased pressure there is compression of median nerve leading to pain.

Use of machine can reduce your pain and swelling, you can ask your physiotherapist for therapy for CTS.

Use ice packs to reduce inflammation .
Physiotherapy with ultrasound and Tens will help you,
For early healing you can take Tab celin [vit C] and antioxidant with anti-inflammatory [Tab enzomac plus ].

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care
