Does Pain In The Wrist And Arm Mean Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?

i have pain in my wrist area and pain that runs up my arm. The right wrist is worse than the left. Penetrex relieves the pain for several hours. Does this sound like arthritis or carpel tunnel? If arthritis, how can i treat and or diminish the pain.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* Arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome both can give similar symptoms, but arthritis gives on larger scale than the carpal tunnel and has no relation with postural changes as carpal tunnel symptoms do.

However, a clinician check-up with assessment and supportive x-ray with or without MRI is mandatory in this regard for perfect management guidelines.

Till that time, heating pad application and intake of Ibuprofen after meals if no history of drug sensitivity will help a great level to relieve the symptoms primarily.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
