Hi there.
Gonorrhea is usually an acute problem.
What can happen is that if not treated correctly or adequately & in someone who is promiscuous or immunosuppressed, one can have an 'ascending infection' & develop complications eg prostrates etc that may have the bacteria lurking in the 'pipes' so to speak.
Having sex during your cycle has nothing to do with it being triggered except that blood is a good nutrient medium for bacteria.
Please get yourselves completely tested with a good venereologist near you. If in Bangalore, you are most welcome to drop into Vikram Hospital or Sita Bhateja & treat both partners adequately.
Good luck & Godspeed.
