Can The Usage Of Tamoxifen Cause A Negative Pregnancy Test Result?

Well, I m wondering if being on Tamoxifen can result in a false negative pregnancy test result? Been on Tamoxifen for almost 8 mo. and while my periods stopped during chemo, I feel that I may have ovulated and I may be pregnant. Test came back negative.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Pregnancy tests detect HCG , the levels of this hormone continue to rise as a pregnancy progresses.

It is not likely that the tamoxifen is causing the negative result but if you wish to be sure, you can repeat the test in a few days or have a blood test done.

The tamoxifen and the stress of illness is the likely cause of the period delay.

I hope this helps
