Can The Size Of Prostate Gland Be Reduced Using Medicines?

Prostate size BPH 50cc Male, 76 Hello sir, My father suffering (Prostate) urine problem since 2 months.. when we met a doctor, he said size of prostate is enlarged to 50cc of normal size. how to decrease size of prostate using medicines.. His PSA reports are normal.. and he age is 76years.. male.. kindly suggest the medicines to decrease the prostate size... or we go for surgery...(but he is not ready for surgery i mean he is mentally not fixed and some stress)

Hello,

There are various types of medications available for prostate enlargement and some of them as finasteride (modulating testosterone receptor level action) helps to reduce prostate size over a period of 6-12 months depending upon the individual response. If he is not prepared mentally for surgery, let him a trial of the medicine and remain in regular follow up with the doc to observe the reduction in prostate size via ultrasound. It is the condition of acute urinary retention , when he is not able to pass urine at all, he will requite indwelling catheter insertion with or without surgery of prostate via laser or trans-urethral resection.
