Can The Pain In In The Rib Area Be Due To Internal Bleeding After A Fall?

My dad is 76, has stints, had a stroke and takes plavix and an asprin daily. Last night he fell and the hospital released him saying he had no broken bones. He hit his nose, left elbow, left side near rib and left knee. His nose is three times its normal size and today has golf ball size blood pockets under his eyes. His elbow that has 10 stitches is still bleeding, not a lot, but constant. His side (near rib) area is still having very severe sharp pain that takes his breath away. I am concerned that he has internal bleeding. What signs should I look for?
