Can The Bad Smell Resulting From Cyst Removal Indicate An Infection?

My son has had a cyst on his back for quite some time. The doctor originally said he would have to have it cut out and the sack removed. The cyst finally came to a head and white thick pus came out and it smelled terrible. It isn t hurting him, but the cyst was popped a couple of weeks ago and it still smells really bad. Could it be infected?

if there is relieved in pain after oozing pus on cyst then ,don't worry about further infection.it will subside itself keep clean the area.but pain remain same then cyst is infected, the infection could spread if the cyst ruptures and drains beneath the skin. Second, if any of the cyst’s sac is left behind, it could grow back. If the cyst doesn't bother you, it’s fine to leave it alone. If it seems to be infected, is uncomfortable, or you don't like the way it looks, it’s best to have it checked by a doctor.
