Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Just 5 days back started on Telista-AM (Telmisartan 40mg + Amlodipine 5mg) tablets, 1 per day, after physician noticed high BP of 140/90. Experiencing high rate of flushing (urination) and high heart beat (~95) , compared to my normal beat rate of around 78. 62 yaes aold. no other ailments or drugs taken by me. Should I stop this drug?
Please do not stop antihypertensive medications until and unless you have been clearly informed to do so. Amlodipine in your combination might have caused the increase in heart beat. I would have considered one laboratory investigation of serum creatinine. If the investigation turns out to be normal, I would have suggested my patient to continue on Telista 40mg without amlodipine. I would have also advised regular blood pressure monitoring, physical exercise, dietary modifications for the control of hypertension. Hope this helps. Thanks.
