Can Severe Pain In Upper Back Be Connected To The Car Accident In The Past?

I have had severe upper back pain for about two months. Pain meds i have taken are norcoe10(3x day), robaxin 750mg(3 x a day) and mobic with no relief. MRI says t6-7 disc protrusion with edema. I have lost 35 pounds in about six months with no dieting and white blood count is 20.2. Is all this connected? If so, how serious? I was in a car accident(rear ended) in June 2014. I was sent by ambulance and treated for neck whiplash. This back pain started about 2 months ago. Could it be from the accident? I also have hand numbness at night and was diagnosed with tennis elbow about 6 months ago.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, likely connected with lesion T6, 7 edema. It's better to consult spine surgeon and check vitamin B12 levels too numbness can be due to this also and blood glucose routine tests.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sunny Madar, General & Family Physician
