Can Recurrent Abortions And Menorrhagia Cause Infertility?

Hi,my husband and I are trying to have a baby and has been trying for 6 months now but I havnt got pregnant yet..we have sex during my ovulating days but no results..I have had 2 abortions in my past and a history of mennorhia (heavy periods)..could it be from the abortions and the heavy periods that is causing me not to get pregnant?

hi...
thanks for writing to us.
i understand your concern regarding conceiving and abortions.
however i would like know few more details of your history in order to come to a tentative diagnosis. If you could give me more details like,
1) since how many years have you had menorrhagia?
2) history of your abortions? At how many weeks of pregnancy have you had abortion?
3) did you consult a doctor at the time of abortion? if so what was the reason for it?
4) Do you have HYPOTHYROIDISM? have you checked your thyroid levels any time?
I understand these are a lot of questions but i need to know the history in order to help you.
The most common reason for Heavy periods and recurrent abortions is Hypothyroidism. it means your thyroid hormones are not up to the normal levels. do not worry because it is very much treatable with tab. thyronorm. But first you need to get a Thyroid profile test which includes T3, T4 and TSH levels. Depending on this profile, medication will be prescribed. So i would suggest you to consult a Gyn-Obs specialist and get the test done.
If you suffer with Hypothyroidism, you should start medication ASAP which will increase your chances of pregnancy. Also i suggest you to get an ultrasound to see the status of your uterus. i hope my answer helped. good luck. thank you
