Can Pink Eye Cause Symptoms Of Flu And Swollen Painful Node Next To The Ear?
I woke up saturday with pinkeye. I called my on call MD and he prescribed Gentamicin drops. Monday I started feeling sick. The eye became much worse and I have a swollen painful node right next to my ear on the affected side. I went in and was seen by a P.A. Who said I had a scratch on my eye that got infected?. He prescribed me polytrim and D/C the other drops. My question is can an eye infection really make you feel like you have the Flu? Thanks

Hi,symptoms which you are experiencing now is related to the viral illness if you havie post ear lymph node swelling it's better to undergo for viral screening which causes the post auricular lymphadenopathy
Regarding symptoms of eye gentamicin drops will be good enough to reduce the irration and infection of eye if you some,but it will be better for you to Consult a physician and undergo the basic evaluation for the viral illness
Don't worry if it's because of virus or flu it's self limited even if you take medications or not it's selflimited may be around 7 days the infection subsides
If you some additional symptoms like yellowing of your eye and mucous contact a doctor immediatly
